Enhanced Carry - Gun Safety Classes Nashville & Murfreesboro - The OutPost Armory

First Shots - $85

This class is designed specifically for new or prospective gun owners with little to no experience. If you’ve never handled a firearm before, this is the perfect place to start. Over the course of session, we’ll walk you through the basics in a relaxed, supportive environment. We’ll also cover safe storage practices so you can confidently and responsibly keep a firearm in your home. There’s no pressure, no prior knowledge required, and plenty of time to ask questions along the way. The class concludes with a 50 round live-fire familiarization session, where our instructors provide step-by-step guidance and hands-on coaching to help you build confidence and feel comfortable behind the gun.

Course Length: 3 hours

DP1 - Intro to Defensive Pistol - $105

This course builds the foundational skills needed to effectively use a handgun for personal defense. As responsibly armed citizens, our goal is to develop core manipulations to a subconscious level so we can focus on what matters most: making sound decisions under stress. This class begins with a classroom discussion on mindset and situational awareness, followed by a comprehensive live-fire range session. On the range, students will learn proper stance, grip, and ready positions, along with techniques for unsighted fire, firing multiple shots, and managing the balance between speed and precision. The course concludes with a discussion on everyday carry gear, giving students the knowledge needed to carry their firearm comfortably, confidently, and responsibly.

Course Length: 3 hours

DP2 - Intermediate Defensive Pistol - $125

Defensive Pistol 2 builds on the foundational skills developed in DP1 and introduces the practical skills needed to carry and use a handgun for the protection of yourself and your loved ones. This class takes place entirely on the range and focuses on the manipulations required for everyday carry. Students will learn how to safely and efficiently draw from a holster, perform emergency and tactical reloads, execute precise trigger manipulation for high-precision shots, and clear common malfunctions. We also introduce cognitive stress into training, requiring students to process what they are seeing and make decisions while employing the firearm. The course concludes with baseline performance testing, giving students a clear understanding of their current skill level and a path forward for continued training.

Course Length: 4 hours

Prerequisite: Completion of DP1

DP3 - Movement and Cover - $135

DP3 builds on the foundation established in DP1 and DP2 by introducing more dynamic movement and real-world application. This course is conducted entirely on the range and challenges students to move with purpose while safely and effectively employing their firearm. Students will learn how to use available cover, understand positioning, and begin integrating movement into their shooting. Emphasis is placed on making sound decisions while navigating an environment rather than remaining fixed in one position. By the end of the course, students will have a better understanding of how to think and move in a defensive context, building the confidence and skills needed to operate more effectively outside of a static setting.

DP4 - Performance on Demand - $150

DP4 is the final chapter in our Defensive Pistol series. If we ever find ourselves in a dynamic, critical incident, there is no opportunity for warm-up reps. We must perform cold and on demand. In this class, we push student performance by challenging them to shoot faster, at greater distances, and with increased precision. Students are introduced to contact shooting, shooting from compromised positions, and strong-hand-only shooting and manipulations. We also focus on reducing time from draw to first shot while refining grip and reinforcing target-focused shooting. This allows students to shoot at higher speeds while maintaining accountability for every round, even during longer strings of fire.

Course Length: 4 hours

Prerequisite: Completion of DP1, DP2, and DP3

Red Dot Pistol 1 - $95

Pistol mounted optics, commonly referred to as red dots, have grown rapidly in popularity in recent years. While they offer significant advantages, there is a learning curve to using them effectively. If you have recently transitioned to a pistol mounted optic, you may find it difficult to consistently acquire the dot during presentation. This course is designed to solve that problem. In this class, the primary focus is on building a consistent and reliable dot presentation. Students will also learn about optic selection, proper setup, basic maintenance, and zeroing procedures to ensure their equipment is properly configured and ready for use.

Course Length: 3 hours

Red Dot Pistol 2 - $110

Pistol mounted optics are more than just a sighting system. When used correctly, they provide valuable feedback that can help diagnose inefficiencies in how the gun is being manipulated, while also improving a shooter’s ability to call their shots. In this class, students will learn how to track the dot through recoil and use that information to identify and correct issues with grip and overall gun handling. We also cover shot calling, giving shooters the ability to confirm where rounds are going without relying on seeing impacts on the target. Every time the firearm is manipulated, the optic provides feedback, and this course teaches students how to recognize, interpret, and apply that information so they can shoot more efficiently and consistently place accurate rounds on target.
Course Length: 3 hours

Prerequisite: Completion of Red Dot Pistol 1

Low Light Pistol 1 - $95

Most violent encounters occur during hours of diminished light. Before employing lethal force, it is critical to positively identify whether an unknown individual is a threat or not. One of the most overlooked skills is the ability to properly and effectively use a light while handling a handgun. In this course, students will learn the science of vision, what constitutes low light conditions, and the legal considerations surrounding target identification. We also cover how to select both handheld and weapon-mounted lights. On the range, students will be introduced to handheld light techniques and proper use of a weapon-mounted light. This course provides the knowledge and practical skills needed to operate safely and effectively in low light conditions.

Course Length: 3 hours

Low Light Pistol 2 - $110

Most range training takes place in ideal lighting conditions, but real-world encounters rarely do. Performing tasks like emergency reloads or clearing malfunctions becomes significantly more challenging in low light, especially while managing a handheld light. Using cover in diminished light also introduces additional considerations that must be understood and applied correctly. This course builds on the foundation established in Low Light Pistol 1 by integrating more advanced manipulations in a low light environment. Students will work through reloads, malfunction clearances, movement, and the effective use of cover while managing their light source. The goal of this course is to further develop a student’s ability to safely and effectively defend themselves and their loved ones when the lights go out.

Course Length: 3 hours

Prerequisite: Completion of Low Light Pistol 1
